When Gene was 12 years old, he moved to Oahu, Hawaii where his father was stationed. Due to a lack of basic housing, his family stayed at the Hale Koa hotel for about 3 months. It was a dream for a 12 year old boy to live at the beach with access to some of the finest dining available, in addition to the beautiful views. This experience may have sparked Gene’s interest in going into the hospitality industry. His first ‘real’ job was a Line Cook for a Holiday Inn in Lenexa, Kansas. He has been working his way up in the Food & Beverage area of hospitality ever since!
